Getting Sales Tax Right in 2020

Joint webinar by Altus Group and TaxConnex

Recorded February 11, 2020

Whether you are selling goods or services from a remote location or otherwise, the sales tax compliance landscape has become more challenging since the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2018 Wayfair decision.  Most states have adopted the principals of economic presence and enacted various compliance and filing thresholds.  Lack of uniformity in these thresholds, their effective dates and related definitions of qualifying transactions have led to a great deal of confusion.

Attending this webinar will allow the participant to:

  • Recognize business and operational activities that give rise to nexus
  • Proactively take steps to avoid or minimize unexpected sales tax liabilities and non-filing penalties
  • Develop a knowledge of collection and reporting requirements in state and local jurisdictions
  • Evaluate factors to be considered in determining whether to outsource the compliance function
  • Establish a “best in class” sales tax function that effectively and efficiently closes gaps in sales tax registration, collection and reporting
